Once in royal David's town
all the shepherds gathered 'round
and gazed into a starlit sky
as angels did appear on high
and their heavenly voices filled the air
proclaiming the birth of a Savior there

And in a place not far away,
an infant lay upon the hay
Wrapped up in his mother's shawl
Not looking like a king at all
But there in that manger on that holy night
lay the One who would one day be called "the Light"
